PRESIDENT AND CEO'S STORY

Greetings,

My name is Bryan F. Gaines, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mel's Memory Care, Inc., a tribute to my father Mr. Melvin Gaines. When I first learned that my father had Alzheimer’s disease, my first reaction was, “what do I do, who do I call, how can I get help”, having not a clue of what to do. Unfortunately my father began to wander and exhibit combative behavior, making future decisions even more difficult and crucial, for his safety and well-being. I was then prompted to begin my search for the best place to care for my father. With limited time and resources I was forced to place my father in a facility near his primary care physician’s office. Being new to this process, I made a lot of mistakes until I had an opportunity to learn about the Alzheimer’s Association of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties Chapter.

This wonderful organization had all the answers to the unknown questions about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, every resource imaginable and most of all, compassion. Yet, it remained difficult to find quality residential care for my fathers needs. Hence, I used my background and training as a professional social worker with a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California to develop Mel’s Memory Care, Inc., with an overall vision and commitment to quality of care and support for seniors living with significant memory impairment and to provide the community and families with valuable tools and resources.

It is my hope that Mel’s Memory Care feels like home and will be a blessing to the residents, their families and the community. Our goal is to reach the community and provide quality care for our residents, ensuring they are treated with love, compassion, dignity, respect and patience.

Celebrating the lives of seniors,

Bryan F. Gaines, MSW
President and Chief Executive Officer
